Aaron Donald has announced his return to the NFL, signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams.

Donald, who retired in 2024, revealed his decision on Sunday via an Instagram video, signaling his comeback after a brief hiatus from the sport. His wife, Erica Donald, confirmed the news on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "I let him out the house y'all."

The veteran defensive lineman's return comes with a deal worth $20 million, with potential to escalate to $30 million for 2026, according to sources. Donald has reportedly been training intensely for nearly six weeks, working out twice daily with personal trainers and adjusting his diet to regain his previous form.

Donald's stated goals for his return are to perform at the level that earned him three Defensive Player of the Year awards and nine All-Pro selections, and to pursue another Super Bowl title. His return coincides with a significant offseason for the Rams' defense, which added two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in June. The potential pairing of Donald and Garrett could form one of the most formidable defensive lines in NFL history.

Further bolstering the Rams' defense, the team also acquired cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson from the Kansas City Chiefs. McDuffie is noted as a Pro Bowl-caliber player. These additions, along with the presence of quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was the defending NFL MVP, suggest the Rams are aiming for a championship.

Donald's career with the Rams has spanned 10 years, during which he established himself as one of the greatest defensive players of his generation. His initial retirement marked the end of a storied run, but his return sets the stage for the Rams to contend in the upcoming season.
