New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown exited his team debut against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury during the third quarter of Wednesday's season opener. The injury occurred as Brown attempted to make a catch at Lumen Field.

Medical personnel attended to Brown on the field before he walked to the sideline without assistance. He later entered a blue medical tent and subsequently headed to the locker room wearing only one cleat. Brown was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game. He recorded three catches for 26 yards and drew a 34-yard pass interference penalty that contributed to the Patriots' first touchdown.

The Patriots were leading the Seahawks 10-0 when Brown left the game. This game marked a rematch of Super Bowl LX, which Seattle won against New England.

Seattle also faced a quarterback change in the first quarter. Sam Darnold was replaced by Drew Lock under center for the Seahawks after Darnold sustained an injury.

New England held a 10-3 lead over Seattle heading into the fourth quarter.
