San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will miss the upcoming NFL season after electing to undergo surgery for a nagging PCL injury in his knee. The decision was announced Saturday morning.

Pearsall had been managing the injury since last season. As the issue persisted and showed no signs of improvement heading into training camp this summer, surgery became the most viable option for the 25-year-old player.

The 49ers' depth at the wide receiver position is considered a strength, especially with the additions of Mike Evans and the re-signing of Deebo Samuel during the offseason.
