The San Francisco 49ers held their final open training camp practice on Sunday, but key players Dominick Puni and Gracen Halton were absent due to injuries. Puni, a starting guard, is dealing with a concussion, and rookie defensive tackle Halton suffered an ankle injury earlier in the week.
Puni has been a durable presence on the 49ers' offensive line, having played in all 34 games over his two NFL seasons. He has committed only 10 penalties in over 2,000 offensive snaps. Last season, he ranked 25th out of 81 qualified guards with a 70.2 overall PFF grade, allowing 30 total pressures, including one sack.
Halton, a fourth-round draft pick in 2026, had made a strong impression during training camp and in the preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. He dominated Titans offensive guard Peter Skoronski in limited snaps during the preseason game. All-Pro lineman Trent Williams praised Halton's performance, noting his explosiveness, quickness, and power.

If neither Puni nor Halton is ready for the 49ers' season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on September 10, it would represent a significant loss for the team. However, there was positive news as Nick Bosa returned to practice on Sunday.
