San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch shared that players on the team personally texted him to express their gratitude following the blockbuster trade for defensive lineman DeForest Buckner. The move, which occurred ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, significantly bolstered the team's defensive line.
"I said no, thank you guys. You guys made this possible (for playing great football)," Lynch stated on KNBR, attributing the team's success to the players' performance.
The 49ers, currently holding a 6-1 record and leading the NFC West, have Super Bowl aspirations with Buckner now integrated into their defense. The team aims to maintain its divisional lead and build on its success.
The NFC West division is seeing increased competition, with the Los Angeles Rams winning consecutive games and the Seattle Seahawks also making a significant trade for offensive lineman Quenton Nelson. The 49ers are set to face the Raiders next, with a rematch against the Seahawks scheduled for Nov. 29.
