Former Missouri TV anchor Randi Naughton has temporarily halted her podcast, "More to Say," to dedicate her time to her 32-year-old daughter, Allex Matuszek, who is undergoing treatment for bile duct cancer. The diagnosis came just six months after Matuszek gave birth to her first child.
Matuszek has tumors on her liver, and her mother stated that the cancer was discovered incidentally. "Helping my daughter and my family through this journey is my job now. We will leave no stone unturned to get her the best treatment possible," Naughton wrote on social media. Matuszek began her treatment this week at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, which is collaborating with the Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Naughton, who previously spent 23 years at KTVI before leaving in 2022, announced her hiatus on Monday. She plans to attend a cancer symposium to gather more information about her daughter's condition, which she described as rare for someone of Matuszek's age. "We are moving forward w/determination & knowledge to be as best equipped as we can so Allex may be around for her son & us for many years," Naughton stated, welcoming support and prayers. Matuszek and her husband, Camille, welcomed their son, Crue, six months ago. Naughton, who previously worked as a sports broadcaster before moving to the morning show at KTVI, joined the station in 1994. She launched her "More to Say" podcast in 2024. The circumstances surrounding Matuszek's diagnosis remain unclear, but her mother emphasized that she had been asymptomatic prior to the discovery.
Naughton's career at KTVI spanned 23 years, during which she became a familiar presence to viewers. She departed the station in 2022, stating her desire to experience life outside the demanding schedule of a morning anchor. She expressed gratitude to her colleagues, viewers, and her family, including her husband Brian and daughter Allex, for their support throughout her broadcasting career. She noted that her daughter had "literally shared me with you" during her years on air.
