Jenny McCarthy revealed that a two-year battle with mold and mycotoxin poisoning led her to live in a tent due to intense fears of exposure and environmental triggers. The former television host shared her health crisis on "The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show," describing an ordeal that began in 2024 with a toothache.
This initial issue reportedly spiraled into a series of medical complications, including severe dental infections, multiple surgeries, jawbone damage, and recurring eye cysts. McCarthy also experienced debilitating leg cramps, facial swelling, worsening food allergies, and insomnia. She stated that these problems led her to believe her immune system was fighting a significant underlying issue.
After exhausting other medical avenues, McCarthy's functional medicine doctor suggested testing for mold. Initially skeptical, McCarthy eventually underwent testing that she claims revealed mold and mycotoxin poisoning. She described this condition as compromising her body's ability to fight infections, leaving her physically and emotionally drained.
"At one point, you know, I was just so desperate to heal that I literally was living in a tent," McCarthy said. "That’s right, living in a tent!"
She described feeling increasingly paranoid, believing that everything was a potential toxin. "I thought everything was poisoning me at this point, because look at me, I was a freaking hot mess, okay?" she recalled.
McCarthy stated that around Christmas, her doctor contacted her with urgent test results indicating serious mold-related concerns, including a type of mold that can cause seizures. She reported that her doctor warned of potential hospitalization if the mold crossed the blood-brain barrier.
Following the diagnosis, McCarthy underwent an extensive treatment regimen that included daily infrared sauna sessions, numerous vitamins and supplements, nasal spray treatments, and lymphatic castor oil packs. Despite these efforts, she admitted that seven months into her detox program, she remained too fearful to live anywhere other than a tent.
McCarthy described the ongoing fear and trauma, stating, "I'm still in the traumatic part. I'm not even in the post part yet because I feel like now everything is mold." She added that she feels she can detect mold almost instantly upon entering a building.
