Kate Tolo, the girlfriend of biohacker Bryan Johnson, has publicly shared her approach to achieving what she claims is a significant reversal in skin age. Tolo, 30, stated in a social media post that her skin biomarkers now reflect a 21-year-old, indicating a five-year reversal over three years, rather than the expected three years of aging.

This revelation follows a trip to Australia where Johnson, 48, remarked on the harshness of the Australian sun, suggesting it accelerated his skin aging by five percent within a week due to UV damage and sunspots. He referenced a 2017 Monash University study indicating Australian women age 10 to 20 years faster than their U.S. counterparts.

Tolo elaborated on her skin transformation, noting that while she initially did not use Botox or fillers, she has since incorporated them for facial balancing. She emphasized that skin aging involves multiple factors, including bone structure, collagen, hydration, elasticity, fat distribution, and the effects of gravity.

Her advised regimen begins with addressing underlying skin conditions like acne, followed by fundamental practices such as sun protection and undergoing facial scans to identify specific issues. Tolo reported that at age 27, her skin age was measured at 26, and at age 30, it measured at 21.

To achieve these results, Tolo detailed a routine that includes a healthy diet, adequate sleep, red light therapy, and a range of supplements such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, omega-3, copper, and vitamin D. She also mentioned microdosing Accutane and using specific skincare products and ingestibles, including collagen and extra virgin olive oil.

Experts suggest that foundational practices can indeed impact skin health and overall wellness. However, some advise a more balanced approach, cautioning against overly aggressive or costly protocols. Rene Torres, an esthetician and wellness director, noted that while sun protection is crucial, complete avoidance of sunlight may have negative consequences, affecting vitamin D production and circadian rhythms. Torres advocates for a holistic view, focusing on supporting the body's natural repair and balance mechanisms rather than accumulating numerous treatments or supplements. She added that while personal choice in treatments is valid, many interventions are not essential and can carry potential long-term risks.

Johnson, an entrepreneur known for his extensive anti-aging program, reportedly invests significant resources into his quest to slow and reverse biological aging. He and Tolo, who met when she joined his anti-aging venture, have an 18-year age difference.
