Zendaya has once again demonstrated her flair for "method dressing," appearing in New York to promote the upcoming film "The Odyssey." The actress arrived in a plunging, floaty white dress adorned with grey stripes, cinching her waist with a belt. She complemented the outfit with Grecian-inspired heels that laced up just below the knee. Her short hair was styled in tight curls, and she accessorized with dangly silver earrings.
Zendaya portrays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, warfare, and handicraft, in director Christopher Nolan's epic. Her character acts as the divine protector and guide for Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he journeys home after the Trojan War.
The New York premiere marks the latest in a series of promotional events where Zendaya has consistently channeled her character through her fashion choices. Previously, in London, she wore a sculpted Schiaparelli dress with a breastplate bodice, paired with a matching choker. This couture gown debuted just hours before the premiere at Paris Couture Week. She later changed into a green leaf-design dress with a chiffon skirt. For the Paris premiere, Zendaya donned a white lace dress with a cut-out design and a ruffled cape, styled with a halo braid and Greek-inspired jewelry.
"The Odyssey" is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic poem, detailing Odysseus's difficult voyage home after the Trojan War to reunite with his wife, Penelope. The film boasts a significant budget of $250 million, making it Nolan's most expensive project to date, and is the first to be shot entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras. The star-studded cast includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Travis Scott, and Elliot Page.
Tom Holland, who is married to Zendaya, spoke about working with his wife on the film. He stated that Zendaya "boosted his confidence" and that she "makes big, bold choices" in her acting. Zendaya shared that being cast alongside Holland was "the dream," expressing her pride in his role and her delight in sharing the experience with him.
