Yungblud has withdrawn from his scheduled performance at the Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary, Canada, citing the need to prioritize his well-being. The announcement comes days after the 28-year-old rocker experienced an emotional breakdown on stage during a recent concert in Czechia.
In a statement, Yungblud apologized to his Canadian fans for the cancellation, explaining that he is currently in the UK focusing on himself and taking time off. "I'm taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what's going on for the good of the long term," he stated. "I will never take any of this for granted and I will see you all soon. I love you all."
During his performance at Bludfest in Czechia, Yungblud stopped the show to express to the audience his struggles with overwhelming feelings of disconnection and pain. He shared with fans that seeing their faces was one of the few things that made him feel safe from the outside world.
"Lately, I have felt so disconnected from everything," he told the crowd. "I have been trying my best to wake up every day. I have felt in pain a lot and I don't know why for a long time." He added, "Every time I find your faces, every time I find your eyes, every time I look at you, I know that I belong somewhere. And to feel safe from the outside world is something that I can never thank you enough for."
Following the concert, Yungblud shared a clip of the on-stage moment on Instagram, accompanied by a lengthy explanation. He stated that the breakdown was a release of emotions he had been unable to process over the past year. He reflected on the rapid pace of the artist's life, where there is little time to process experiences, both positive and negative.
"Being an artist in this day and age is so strange because everything moves so quickly," he wrote. "You never get to sit in what happens for more than a couple hours therefore you fail to navigate or process anything you feel both good or bad at all." He also touched upon the impact of online hate and criticism, noting that it weighs on him despite his efforts to spread love and unify people.
Yungblud was scheduled to perform on Sunday, July 12. The singer's decision to step back comes after a period of intense touring and public performance.
