Love Island's season finale saw an unexpected twist Monday night as Yasmin and Tommy were dumped from the villa, narrowly missing a chance to compete for the championship title. They became the first couple in the show's history to be eliminated during the live final itself.

The unprecedented double dumping occurred after another eliminated couple, Mica and Samraj, were tasked with selecting two additional Islanders to leave the competition. This decision meant Yasmin and Tommy would not be among the final three couples vying for the public vote.

The departure of Yasmin and Tommy came after several former contestants had previously voted for them to be dumped. This sentiment appeared to stem from revelations that Tommy had ended a 10-month relationship just weeks before entering the villa, leading other couples to question his intentions on the show.

Tommy stated that his exit was bittersweet, expressing gratitude for the friendships formed in the villa and happiness at having found his partner. "I've gone in there and I've found my person. That's what I went in there to do and that's what I've done," he said. "I'm just really happy and there's no one else that I would have wanted to leave the villa with."

Yasmin described the experience as the best of her life, noting personal growth and new friendships. Reflecting on their dramatic exit, she called it a "plot twist" but acknowledged it was a fair decision given the remaining couples. "So I wasn't surprised as soon as we got that text," Yasmin added. "Even when we were sat at the fire pit and the ex-islanders came in, I knew that there might be a possibility that we were going home. So as soon as the text came through, I knew it would be us leaving and I was quite at ease with it. I think I was ready to go."

Prior to Yasmin and Tommy's elimination, Mica and Samraj were also dumped from the villa, having been voted out by a majority of the former Islanders who felt they did not deserve a spot in the final. Mica expressed that she was excited to see familiar faces and had no issue with being voted out, emphasizing the strength of her relationship with Samraj. "As long as Samraj and I are good, we know what we have, I'm so obsessed and smitten with this man. I just feel so lucky that I have him while leaving as well," she said.

Samraj noted that he had always fought for their place in the competition but was content to leave this time. He expressed frustration with some of the justifications used for voting them out, such as the "friends-to-lovers" dynamic. "What didn't sit right with me was some of the justifications people were using," Samraj stated. "People have mentioned friends-to-lovers as a reason. I don't get that. If anything, you have more of a solid foundation."
