Singer Lucie Jones, known for her appearance on The X Factor in 2009, has welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Elowen Hersey-Jones. Jones announced the birth on Instagram on Friday, sharing photos of the newborn with her partner, restaurateur George Hersey.
“Elowen Hersey-Jones. We are so lucky to be parents to the most perfect angel on the planet,” Jones wrote in her social media post. “This little girl has dropped in to change everything and we are utterly besotted.”
Friends, including Giovanna Fletcher, wife of McFly's Tom Fletcher, offered congratulations in the comments. Jones and Hersey have been together since last year, though they have known each other for many years, with their friendship developing into a romantic relationship. Jones was previously married to Ethan Boroian for eight years.
Jones gained recognition on the sixth series of The X Factor, finishing in eighth place. That season also featured contestants such as Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon, with Joe McElderry ultimately winning the competition. Following her time on the show, Jones pursued a successful career in musical theatre, performing in productions like "Les Miserables," "We Will Rock You," "Legally Blonde the Musical," and "Rent." She most recently starred as Fantine in "Les Miserables" at the Sondheim Theatre.
In addition to her stage work, Jones represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 with the song "Never Give Up on You," finishing in 15th place. She has also performed at Glastonbury Festival. Jones has previously stated that the Eurovision contest was a life-changing experience.
