In the third season of the Netflix series "My Life with the Walter Boys," Wylder Holt, portrayed by Jake Manley, emerges as a significant figure in protagonist Alex Walter's rodeo journey.
Wylder, a teammate of Alex at the Hartford's crew, initially presents a challenging presence, often riling Alex and making him question his place on the team. Despite trainer Blake Hartford's encouragement for Alex to connect with his teammates, the dynamic between Alex and Wylder is marked by rivalry.
A Test of Mettle
Season 3, Episode 3, titled "The Ghort Pepper," features a pivotal moment where Wylder tests Alex's resilience. After Wylder and his friends discuss someone eating a Carolina Reaper pepper, Kiley, another character, intervenes. She tells Wylder that Alex once consumed an entire ghort pepper, prompting Wylder to dare Alex to eat chicken wings coated in extremely spicy Louisiana Hot Sauce. Alex successfully completes the challenge, demonstrating his fortitude.
Unveiling Shoulder Injury and Rodeo Lifestyle
Alex's interactions with Wylder become more complex when he discovers Wylder taking medication for a supposed shoulder injury. Further entanglement with the rodeo circuit occurs in Season 3, Episode 4, "Screeching Tires and True Love," where Alex joins Wylder and the Hartford's crew for a tailgate at a drag race. This experience exposes Alex to the lifestyle associated with the rodeo team, including alcohol and women.
The situation escalates in Season 3, Episode 5, "The Jackie and Cole Effect," when Alex brings Wylder and the gang to a birthday party hosted by Jackie for Grace. This event highlights Alex's potential discomfort with the rowdier aspects of the rodeo crowd.
