Actor William Beck will lead the upcoming 40th anniversary special of the BBC medical drama "Casualty," an event he described as a "real privilege." The special, set to air in September, will feature a two-part story commemorating the world's longest-running drama of its kind.
According to the BBC, the anniversary episodes will center on a "high-stakes major incident" that plunges Holby City Hospital into chaos. Beck's character, Dylan Keogh, will navigate personal tragedy while guiding his team through a critical period. Beck, who hails from Ynys Puffin on Anglesey, noted that the special aims to be both "entertaining as well as traumatic."
"The opportunity to give people something that feels authentic and recognisable but also surprises them, that's gold dust in TV," Beck said. He added that the storyline provides a significant opportunity to explore his character's limits when he is the one everyone relies on. "I know it's been said that Dylan doesn't like the responsibility of leading the department, but I think he does," Beck commented. "It really is pinch-yourself stuff."
