The future of an 'Enola Holmes 4' movie remains uncertain, with no official confirmation from Netflix. However, the cast and crew have expressed openness to continuing the popular Sherlock Holmes spin-off series.
Enola Holmes 3, directed by Philip Barantini and written by Jack Thorne, recently premiered on Netflix. The film follows Enola (Millie Bobby Brown) as her wedding to Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) is interrupted by the disappearance of her brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill). Enola, Tewkesbury, and Dr. Watson (Himesh Patel) team up to find the missing detective.
When asked about a potential fourth film, Himesh Patel, who portrays Dr. Watson, stated that he hasn't heard anything concrete but would be eager to reprise his role. He expressed a desire for more screen time with Henry Cavill's Sherlock. "I'd love to go again. I'd love to step into those shoes again," Patel told Decider.
Millie Bobby Brown, who also produces the series, has indicated her willingness to return. "I'll be there if Netflix is," Brown said in an interview with Digital Spy. She also mused about the possibility of Enola becoming a mother in a future installment, calling the idea "crazy."
However, co-star Louis Partridge seemed less immediate in his enthusiasm for a fourth film, jokingly suggesting he might be ready in "50 years or something." Brown reiterated in a separate interview with ComicBook that her participation is contingent on Netflix and Partridge's involvement as well.
The likelihood of 'Enola Holmes 4' being greenlit may depend significantly on the performance of 'Enola Holmes 3' on the streaming platform. Additionally, the original book series by Nancy Springer offers a wealth of material, with 10 books in total, providing ample story potential for future adaptations.
If 'Enola Holmes 4' does move forward, a release date is purely speculative. The first two films, 'Enola Holmes' (2020) and 'Enola Holmes 2' (2022), had approximately two to three years between them. Based on this pattern, if the film were to be announced soon, a potential release in 2028 or 2029 could be possible, though this remains hypothetical.
