Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were photographed together Saturday in Malibu, their first joint public appearance in about 10 months, Page Six reported.

The pair were seen leaving Nobu restaurant in Malibu in midafternoon, according to photos obtained by Page Six. Smith, 56, smiled and waved at onlookers as he approached the car; Pinkett Smith, 53, kept a more neutral expression as she walked to her side of the vehicle. The couple then climbed into a white Lamborghini and drove away.

Photographs show Smith dressed casually in a white shirt, khaki shorts and a white baseball cap. Pinkett Smith wore a nude-colored, strapless dress with a hood pulled over her head and paired the look with gold sandals and accessories, Page Six reported.

The outing comes amid reports that the couple continue to maintain separate residences. In January, People quoted a source saying the two were still living apart but had not "completely severed ties," and another source told the outlet they remained together while having "had separate homes for years." The relationship has been the subject of public attention since Pinkett Smith said in October 2023 that she and Smith had been separated for seven years, though they were still "figuring it out," she told People at the time.

Pinkett Smith later told the Daily Mail in December 2023 that Smith’s 2022 Oscars incident — when he struck comedian Chris Rock onstage — had a transformative effect on their marriage. "After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him," she said, adding that the event altered how she viewed their relationship.

The couple, who were married in December 1997, have appeared together intermittently at public events in recent years. Before Saturday’s outing, the last time they were photographed together was in November 2024, when they left Crossroads Kitchen in Calabasas with their arms around each other. They had also attended the "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" premiere together in May 2024.

Representatives for Smith and Pinkett Smith did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Saturday’s appearance. Media coverage of the couple has alternated between snapshots of public outings and interviews in which they discuss the private work they say they have done on their relationship.

Over the past two years the Smiths have publicly addressed the state of their marriage in interviews and on Pinkett Smith’s former Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk. Those conversations, together with highly publicized incidents, have shaped reporting about their living arrangements and the nature of their partnership. Sources quoted by outlets such as People have described a long-term pattern in which the couple balance separate living arrangements with ongoing collaboration and family life.

Saturday’s appearance underscores the couple’s continued visibility in public life despite their atypical domestic arrangements. Fans and observers have noted that such outings are intermittent, and the pair have not announced any formal change in their marital status since Pinkett Smith’s 2023 comments. Further public appearances and statements from the couple or their representatives would be the clearest indicators of any shift in their private arrangements.
