Will Ferrell returns to the screen in "The Hawk," a new eight-episode comedy series premiering on Netflix on Thursday, July 16. The show, which will release all episodes at 12 a.m. PST, centers on Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, a golfer striving to achieve a career Grand Slam after a past incident derailed his professional trajectory.
The series follows Hawkins as he attempts a comeback against formidable odds, including competing against his own son and facing skepticism about his ability to contend at a professional level. Each episode is approximately 30 minutes long.
Ferrell leads a cast that includes Molly Shannon as Stacy Hawkins, Lonnie's estranged wife, and Chris Parnell as Anton Floyd, a PGA board member who harbors animosity towards Lonnie. Jimmy Tatro plays Lance Hawkins, Lonnie's son and a rising professional golfer. Also featured are Fortune Feimster as Lonnie's caddy, Sam, and Katelyn Tarver as Natalie Wayne, Lance's fiancée and a wellness influencer.
Luke Wilson joins the ensemble as Golden Fisk, portrayed as Lonnie's main competitor and a fan favorite on the PGA tour. The narrative explores what a person might do to reclaim their position and secure a long-desired championship.
