A playful wedding trend designed to surprise Brittany Hockley's new husband resulted in unexpected chaos when her private Polaroids escaped his jacket pocket and began floating in the reception pool, visible to guests. The Life Uncut host recounted the incident, admitting she sprinted across the venue and dove into the pool in her wedding dress to retrieve the photos.

The story emerged as Hockley and co-host Laura Byrne discussed the trend of brides giving grooms intimate Polaroids during the wedding day. A listener preparing for their own wedding inquired about the appropriateness of revealing images, posing a scenario where a nude photo could accidentally be seen by family members. Hockley confirmed she had participated in this trend at her wedding to Swiss footballer Ben Siegrist in June 2025.

"It's a trend where you take nude Polaroids and either deliver them to your groom throughout the night or get your bridesmaids to do it," Hockley explained on the podcast. "I actually love this trend. I think it's cute. I've seen it work really well for a lot of people."

The photos in question were taken during Hockley's hens weekend by her bridesmaid Keeshia Pettit, her sister, and other friends. While some were intended to be alluring, Hockley stated that most were deliberately humorous, with poses like "Superman [posing] through the air" where "one boob was flattened by gravity."

Polaroids have been a significant part of Hockley and Siegrist's relationship, with the couple maintaining a Polaroid book filled with memories from their travels. For the wedding, Hockley's bridesmaids presented the groom with the photos one by one during the reception, capturing his reactions before he placed them in his jacket pocket. There was a moment of panic when Siegrist's parents approached shortly after Hockley handed him a photo, prompting her to exclaim, "F***, put the nude away."

Later in the reception, as guests began jumping into the pool, Siegrist also joined them. Upon exiting the water, a friend of the groom's called out, "What are these?" Hockley realized the photos had been exposed when she noticed Ben's jacket was off and saw her Polaroids floating in the pool. She described running towards the water in her wedding dress to recover the images, with Ben's friends reportedly picking them up and looking before discarding them.

Hockley believes only one person managed to see a photo clearly before tossing it back. She and her new husband then dove into the pool together to collect the remaining floating pictures.

Despite the unexpected mishap, Hockley expressed that the trend is still worthwhile, clarifying that the photos were not fully nude but included underwear or a G-string with breasts visible in various poses. She described the intention as "cheeky and fun, and maybe get you a bit excited for when you go home." Byrne encouraged couples to embrace personalized and memorable moments during their weddings, suggesting "tasteful and artful nudes" if couples choose this trend.
