Wayne Rooney said he is “fuming” that his wife, Coleen Rooney, no longer lays out his clothes or irons them each night since the couple had children.
The former Manchester United and England forward made the remarks during an appearance on The Wayne Rooney Show podcast on BBC, saying that before they had children Coleen would pick out his outfits, leave clothes ready and ironed for him to put on the next morning. “Before we had kids, Coleen used to leave me clothes out the night before. So, every day, yeah, before we had kids, it doesn't... She'd put my clothes out, ironed and ready for me to put on the next morning,” he said. “I know and then now I've got to get up and get my own clothes I'm fuming.”
Rooney, 39, and Coleen, 39, are parents to four sons: Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass. He made the comments while answering questions about whether he took advantage of Coleen’s “keen eye for fashion.” He added that the couple’s busy family life has changed routines around the household.
Coleen Rooney, often described in media coverage as a wife and mother and well-known in football-supporting circles, has previously been noted for her public profile and social media presence. The couple have been in the public eye since Rooney rose to prominence at Everton and Manchester United and later for his international career with England. Their family life and domestic arrangements have regularly been subjects of tabloid and broadcast coverage.
The remarks were made on a podcast Rooney hosts and reflect a conversational tone common to the series. He has previously discussed family life and career matters on broadcast platforms. The comment drew attention mainly for its domestic detail and for humanizing a high-profile sporting figure now focusing on family and media work as well as managerial duties.
Rooney’s wider professional activities include post-playing roles in management and media, and he continues to be a frequent presence in British sports coverage. Coleen Rooney likewise remains a figure of public interest for lifestyle and family-oriented coverage.
