Victoria Beckham missed the recent wedding of fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm because she was fulfilling her duties as a spouse at the World Cup Final, Chisholm confirmed.
Beckham was in New York with her husband, David Beckham, during the football championship. "She was very disappointed to not be there. She was with David [Beckham] in New York and it was the football final, the World Cup," Chisholm told Australia’s KIIS 106.5. Chisholm added that Beckham is "not the biggest football fan" but attended out of family obligation and David Beckham's role as an ambassador for FIFA.
At the time, Beckham and her husband were photographed watching Spain play Argentina in the World Cup Final, alongside celebrities such as Tom Cruise. A source close to Beckham told the Daily Mail that she was disappointed to miss the event but had prior commitments in the U.S. with her husband. "She was sad she couldn’t be there because she’s in the US with David and of course the World Cup plans had been set for a long time," the source said.
Despite her absence, Beckham contributed to the wedding. "Of course, she made my gorgeous dress, and she was messaging me on the day," Chisholm said of the fashion designer. "We were giving her updates and sending her pictures."
Chisholm married model Chris Dingwall on July 18 in a countryside ceremony at the Country House Cumbria in England’s Lake District. Fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Melanie Brown were in attendance, according to the Daily Mail. Chisholm's 17-year-old daughter, Scarlett, served as a bridesmaid.
