Victoria Beckham made a playful remark about her husband David Beckham's "plums" as the former England captain filmed himself making plum jam in the couple's Cotswolds kitchen, a video that comes as their son Brooklyn has also posted a jam-making tutorial amid ongoing family tensions.
David Beckham posted the clips to his Instagram Story over the weekend, showing freshly picked plums simmering on the hob and announcing the finished product as "David Beckjam." In footage shared by Victoria, she asks him what he will call the conserve, and he replies, "Got a surprise for you darling." At another point he teases, "darling my plums are simmering!" and Victoria quips about his "impressive plums," laughing that she had been "watching" him cook rather than taking part.
The couple, who have shared regular glimpses of their country life since buying a Cotswolds home, spent much of the summer on their yacht in Europe, and David has frequently posted updates from his vegetable garden and beehives. In earlier posts this weekend he showed the ripe plums and other produce that he harvested for the jam.
The jam-making follows a separate post by Brooklyn Beckham, 26, who also uploaded a cookery video showing his method for making jam. Brooklyn and his parents have not been publicly pictured together since last Christmas, and media outlets report the family remains in dispute. Brooklyn has spent much of the past year living in the United States with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz.
The Beckhams' family disagreement has been widely covered in the press and given nicknames in some outlets. Victoria Beckham, 51, is known for having nicknamed her husband "Goldenballs," a moniker she first discussed in a 2001 interview with Michael Parkinson.
David Beckham has positioned himself publicly as an enthusiastic gardener and beekeeper, regularly sharing images of his produce and the honey produced by the family hives. The light-hearted jam footage underscores the couple's continued sharing of domestic moments with their large social-media followings.
Jam and preserves have also been in the wider headlines this year because of Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle's As Ever raspberry spread. Markle marketed the product through her brand; company descriptions cite raspberries, organic pure cane sugar, organic lemon juice concentrate and fruit pectin among the ingredients. Her offering has been described in media reports as a high-fruit spread sold in small batches.
Neither David nor Victoria Beckham commented publicly on the status of their relationship with Brooklyn in the videos. Brooklyn has continued to post about his culinary projects, including a hot-sauce line and cooking tutorials, while remaining largely private about the family dispute.
The jam posts by father and son add a domestic note to a public story that has included social-media posts and press coverage, but they do not appear to signal any change in the family's public stance on their private disagreements.
