Netflix has set an Oct. 9 release date for a documentary series about Victoria Beckham that promises exclusive access to the fashion designer, her business and members of her family, the streamer announced Thursday. A first-look image released to mark the announcement shows Beckham in a white shirt and diamond rings, and the series is being produced by the team behind Netflix’s Beckham film and Michelle Obama’s Becoming.
The series follows Beckham’s fashion and beauty empire and, according to people close to the project, will include footage of her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, despite reports that he and his parents have been estranged since May. "The show is about Victoria’s fashion and beauty empire and the Paris show where Brooklyn was part of that story," a source said. "So Brooklyn will be in the show, that is for certain."
Production on the series was announced in August and filmmakers were on location for key moments in Beckham’s recent calendar, including her September 2024 Paris Fashion Week show. Sources said the documentary captures a scene in which Brooklyn helps clear water from the catwalk after heavy rain, and shows Beckham mobilizing her team and family to deal with the unexpected downpour.
All four of Beckham’s children — Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper — are understood to appear in scenes tied to the business and its shows. One scene described by sources involves Cruz being fitted for a suit in the lead-up to a fashion show. Brooklyn, 26, who is married to actress Nicola Peltz, is depicted in footage that Beckham declined to remove, according to people familiar with the editing process.
The inclusion of the footage arrives amid continued public reports of a rift between Beckham and her eldest child. Friends of the family said that David and Victoria Beckham do not expect Brooklyn to attend family events after he missed earlier celebrations for his father’s 50th birthday. A source close to Romeo Beckham said the family organized a low-key celebration for Romeo’s 23rd birthday at the Aki restaurant in central London this week, and that Brooklyn was once again absent.
Photos released of the birthday show Romeo posed with his parents and siblings while Brooklyn did not appear and reportedly did not post birthday messages publicly. Those close to the family described the party as a relaxed evening for friends and relatives, with David Beckham and Victoria in attendance alongside Cruz and Harper.
Beckham, 51, has built a fashion label and beauty business that has been a focus of her public profile since she moved beyond her pop career with the Spice Girls. Netflix’s description of the series says it will offer a close look at the growth of that business and the people who work with her. The production team’s prior credits on high-profile documentaries for the streamer were cited by Netflix as part of the announcement.
Netflix has not provided further details about the format or episode count for the series but the Oct. 9 release date and first-look artwork mark the streamer’s timeline for promotion ahead of the debut. Representatives for the Beckhams did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The forthcoming series will join a growing lineup of fashion-focused documentaries that examine the commercial and personal pressures behind runway shows and brand-building, while also documenting the private lives of well-known figures in the industry. The Beckham family’s dynamics, captured in the footage slated for the show, are likely to draw public interest as the series chronicles both professional milestones and family moments.
