Usher has refuted claims that he employed a body double to perform parts of his set during the R&B Tour's stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The singer addressed the rumors via Instagram, questioning the validity of the speculation.
"Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??" Usher wrote on his Instagram stories, referencing the fan theories. He further added, "How y’all come up with this? 😂😂😂 AI ain’t that advanced."
The speculation began after fan videos circulated online showing Usher performing hits like "Caught Up" and "Bad Girl." Concertgoers in the clips noted perceived differences in the performer's facial features and body language, leading some to question if it was indeed Usher on stage.
"That was foulllll🤣😂😭 usher really sent out his doppelganger," one user commented on TikTok. Another expressed confusion, "I’m confused. I see Usher, but then I don’t."
Further fueling the debate, one fan pointed out the apparent absence of Usher's distinctive hand tattoos, which typically feature a star on each hand between the thumb and index finger. The fan claimed to have reviewed multiple frames of the video footage and could not see the tattoos.
This incident follows a previous headline Usher made last month when he removed a fan from the stage during a performance. The fan in that instance later clarified that while she had no ill will towards Usher, she had hoped to interact with his co-headliner, Chris Brown.
