Universal Studios is adding a new haunted house to its Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) lineup, drawing inspiration from the popular Evil Dead franchise. The attraction will feature elements from the series' cabin setting and specific scenes, bringing the '80s indie horror classic to life for fans.
The new haunted house will be available at Universal Orlando Resort starting August 28 and Universal Studios Hollywood beginning September 3. Visitors will navigate rooms within a secluded cabin, encountering "Deadites" as they move through the house. The Evil Dead saga, known for its blend of gore and dark humor, centers on characters battling demonic possession, often involving a cursed book known as the Necronomicon, or the Book of the Dead.
This marks the latest in a series of Evil Dead-themed attractions at Universal parks. Previously, the park featured an Evil Dead house in 2013 coinciding with the release of the franchise's first spin-off film, and another based on the STARZ television series in 2017.
The franchise's continuity includes the original trilogy: The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1992). It has since expanded with a 2013 film and the 2026 release, Evil Dead Rise. Additionally, a prequel film, "Evil Dead Wrath," is slated for release in Spring 2028.
Halloween Horror Nights, which runs from August 28 through November 1, is a significant seasonal event for Universal parks. The 35th annual event will include 10 haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment. Other themed haunted houses this year are inspired by "Stranger Things," "Sinners," and "Hellraiser."
Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights start at $77 for general admission, with multi-night passes available for $179 to $299. Various ticket options, including early access passes and frequent fear passes, are on sale. Analysts estimate that HHN attracts between 30,000 and 35,000 visitors nightly in Florida alone, contributing an estimated $575 million in sales in 2022. Universal invests approximately $100 million annually in producing and marketing the event.
