Ulrika Jonsson marked her 59th birthday on Sunday with a reflective post on aging, her personal philosophy, and her journey toward sobriety. In a lengthy caption accompanying a series of personal images, Jonsson described getting older as a "privilege" that has brought wisdom, strength, and gratitude.
Jonsson detailed her approach to life and wellness, stating she is "exhausted by the pressure to optimise" and instead focuses on "inner peace, kindness, empathy and generosity." She emphasized that she is "actually remembering to LIVE for myself. Not for the clicks; not for others and not for a man..."
Her post included images of her four children: Cameron, 32; Bo, 26; Martha, 22; and Malco, 18. She also shared a photo of her daughter Bo's tattoo, which features Jonsson's own handwriting. Another image showed Jonsson in a hospital gown following surgery to remove varicose veins earlier in the year.
Jonsson also touched upon her nearly two years of sobriety, describing it as a "spiritual awakening." She shared that after hitting a low point where she wished "the drink would take her," she found a sense of safety and belonging through recovery programs. She contrasted her past self, who struggled with the division between her public persona and private life, with her current mindset.
"I went from not wanting to live to now wanting to squeeze every moment out of my life," Jonsson stated, noting that while life still presents challenges, she now navigates them differently. She credited her sobriety with transforming her outlook and allowing her to "deal with it in a completely different way."
Reflecting on her journey, Jonsson expressed gratitude for being alive and continuing to experience life's ups and downs. She concluded her birthday reflections by looking forward to her 60th birthday, stating, "Roll on 60'."
