Tripadvisor has announced the winners of its annual Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants for 2026. The rankings, based on millions of traveler reviews over the past year, identify establishments within the top one percent of Tripadvisor listings globally. This year's awards feature categories such as fine dining, date night, and hidden gems.
A total of 12 UK restaurants and experiences were recognized among the global winners. The awards aim to celebrate outstanding dining establishments based on authentic traveler experiences.
Fine Dining
Globally, Fogón Asado in Buenos Aires, Argentina, earned the top spot in the fine dining category. This traditional grill restaurant is noted for its tasting menus and exclusive ambiance. KOMA Singapore, a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar, secured second place worldwide.
The Witchery in Edinburgh, Scotland, was recognized as the number four fine dining restaurant globally, also ranking first in Europe and the UK. Described as a candlelit gothic landmark, it elevates seasonal Scottish ingredients into a celebrated fine-dining experience. In the UK fine dining list, Bustronome London, a bistro operating from a double-decker bus, placed second, followed by Varanasi in Birmingham, an Indian restaurant praised for its 'stunning surroundings and some of the best Indian food we have ever had, beautifully presented.'
Hidden Gems
Tua Casa Hamburgueria E Petiscaria in Maragogi, Brazil, was named the world's best hidden gem. The establishment is lauded for its welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service. Second place globally went to Sad Man's Tongue Bar & Bistro in Prague, a venue blending 1950s and 1960s aesthetics with a modern twist.
In the UK, Bonoo Indian Tapas in London was recognized as the top hidden gem and ranked 13th globally. This establishment offers authentic Indian small plates in a cozy setting. Saffron Kitchen & Bar in Northampton secured the second spot in the UK for its blend of Indian flavors and modern ambiance, while The White Hart Inn in Hawes, North Yorkshire, a 16th-century coaching inn, took third place.
Date Night
The global winner for date night dining was Waitui Bar & Grill in Fiji, an oceanside restaurant on Denarau Island. Chalezinho Campos Do Jordão in São Paulo, Brazil, came in second, offering fondues, Italian appetizers, and raclette. Five Senses Restaurant in Santorini, Greece, placed third, specializing in Greek cuisine.
For the UK, London Steakhouse Co. was named the top date night restaurant, ranking fourth globally. Dava Steak & Seafood Restaurant in Bali, Indonesia, followed at sixth place worldwide. The Herd Steak Restaurant in Bath, described as the best steakhouse in the city, took second place in the UK. 1863 Restaurant in the Lake District, known for dishes like hand-dived scallops and Cumbrian beef fillets, secured third place.
