Heartfelt tributes have flooded in from co-stars, friends, family, and fans following the death of actress and singer Hayden Panettiere. She was 36 years old.
The cause of her death has not yet been released.
Panettiere's father, Skip Panettiere, described her as "an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen." He released a statement announcing her death on Sunday.
Friends and colleagues shared their grief online. Selma Blair, who commented on Panettiere's July 27 Instagram post, wrote, "I love you. Don’t be gone. Don’t be gone. Please. Please." TV personality Rosie O’Donnell posted on Instagram, "Oh my god – heartbroken."
Viola Davis, who appeared with Panettiere in the dramas "The Architect" and "Custody," called her an "amazing talent." Davis wrote on Instagram, "I wished the world had more time with you because I had a burning curiosity about who you were becoming."
Jay Shetty, a podcast host who interviewed Panettiere earlier this year, expressed his disbelief, stating, "Our friendship had just begun and I was so moved by the conversation we shared earlier this year." He added, "Truly heartbroken by this news."
David Arquette, a co-star from the "Scream" franchise, commented, "I love you Hayden." Bethany Joy-Lenz, who starred with Panettiere in "One Tree Hill" and had known her for years, said on Instagram that she was "crushed" by the news.
