Veteran BBC DJ and presenter Trevor Nelson is taking a temporary break from all his work commitments due to health issues, the broadcaster announced. Nelson, who hosts a daily show on BBC Radio 2 and is also associated with BBC Radio 1Xtra, informed his Instagram followers that he is following medical advice to concentrate on his recovery.

"I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I'm going to be taking a little break from my work commitments," Nelson stated. He noted that listeners might have already noticed his absence from his regular Radio 2 slot this week.

Nelson, 62, explained that following a routine check-up, he was advised to undergo further tests. "As a result, I will be taking some further time off," he said, adding, "As I'm sure you can appreciate with health issues, it's important to deal with facts and not speculate."

He expressed his commitment to getting better and returning to his presenting roles. "So I'm concentrating on getting better, being back to 100% me and to getting back behind the mic and the decks," Nelson shared.

Earlier this year, Nelson celebrated 30 years with the BBC, during which he has been a prominent champion of R&B music in the UK. Lorna Clarke, the BBC's director of music, conveyed the organization's well wishes. "Everyone at BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra wishes Trevor a very speedy recovery and we all look forward to him returning to his shows whenever he is ready," Clarke said. The BBC has not provided further details regarding Nelson's diagnosis or the expected duration of his absence.
