Michael Douglas, reflecting on his own career, stated that his longtime friend Jack Nicholson has “disappeared” from the public eye. Douglas mentioned in an interview that Nicholson, 89, is “well” and “up there by his house and walking around in his slippers,” adding that the legendary actor “deserves” his quiet retirement.
Nicholson, who has not been credited in a film since 2010’s “How Do You Know,” has largely stayed out of public view. Douglas, 82, who has released his memoir “One Helluva Ride,” expressed that he would have liked to have acted with Nicholson.
Crystal Hefner, widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, recently shared anecdotes about the Playboy Mansion. She recalled that Nicholson was a frequent visitor, leading to the mansion being nicknamed “Jack Nicholson’s drive-thru” at one point due to his frequent, brief visits for food or other items. Hefner's daughter, Lorraine, also shared her experiences, noting that while she spent significant time at the mansion as a child, her father’s own visits were more transient and that he was on a list allowing him entry at any time.
Douglas indicated that while he still sees Nicholson, he understands his desire to withdraw from the Hollywood scene. The actor stated, “It happens. He deserves it. I understand.”
