Tracy Anderson told a recent interview that she is "kind of psychotic" about drinking water, saying she has custom triple-filter systems installed in each of her homes and refuses to drink from plastic bottles.

Anderson, the 50-year-old fitness entrepreneur who developed the Tracy Anderson Method and has trained celebrities including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow, made the comments in an interview with The Cut in which she also described skipping showers for a post-workout dip in a pool and other costly wellness routines.

"Water is a big topic. I'm nervous about our water," Anderson told The Cut. "I'm kind of psychotic about it. I have a custom water system with triple filters in all of my homes," she said, adding that she is fortunate to live in multiple locations, from a Hamptons residence to a ranch in Montana and other properties across the country.

Public reaction to the comments was swift on social media, with Instagram users posting critical responses. One wrote, "'In all of my homes,' very relatable," while others called the remarks "vapid," "detached from reality," or otherwise tone-deaf. The Daily Mail reported the social-media responses and noted that Anderson did not respond to its request for comment.

Anderson has recently transacted several high-value properties. She purchased a Los Angeles house for $7.36 million in 2023 and sold it this year for just under $10 million, according to reporting. Her Pennsylvania home in New Hope is listed for $5.95 million, up from the $2.35 million she paid in 2020. A Hamptons property associated with Anderson has been reported at about $3.6 million.

The trainer has longstanding ties to the celebrity wellness market. She has a business partnership with Gwyneth Paltrow, and many products she promotes are sold through Paltrow's Goop lifestyle company. Anderson's career has included praise for her workout system as well as controversies: past reporting has criticized the pricing of services at her studios, alleged difficult conditions for employees, and highlighted instances in which she was said to have mocked clients' bodies and used a Goop advertisement to tease Meghan Markle's kitchen.

The remarks about water and luxury routines come as public attention to wealth and wellness culture has grown. Anderson's description of bespoke systems and multiple high-end residences follows an ongoing pattern of scrutiny directed at celebrity-endorsed lifestyle practices and their affordability or accessibility.

Anderson did not reply to a request for comment from the Daily Mail, and the interview with The Cut provided the most detailed account of her water- and wellness-related practices to date.
