Tom Holland has shared a rare glimpse into how he and wife Zendaya utilize a restaurant-finding app while on their extensive global press tours. The actor, 30, described the app, named Beli, as a "worldwide" tool that allows users to rank, track, and share restaurant experiences with friends.
Speaking on the Dish from Waitrose podcast, Holland explained that the app has been instrumental in their discoveries during the press tour for their film, "The Odyssey." "It's like a kind of social community of like recommending restaurants. It's really amazing. It's worldwide," Holland stated. "We've been on tour travelling to loads of amazing places and Z's [Zendaya] been using this Beli app and it has not let us down yet."
Holland further noted that Zendaya, 29, is particularly adventurous when it comes to trying new foods and excels at locating new dining establishments in each city they visit. "Zendaya is really into her food and trying food. She's very adventurous. She likes to go to new restaurants," he said. "She'll find a place and she'll love it and she'll go there all the time but she's really good at trying new places."
The couple has been actively promoting their recent films, "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Following a recent trip to Mexico and a photo call in New York for "Spider-Man," they were previously in New York for "The Odyssey" promotions, where Zendaya showcased a series of Grecian-style gowns. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is set to be released on July 31st.
Following a demanding year that included five projects and their wedding, Zendaya recently expressed her intention to take a break from Hollywood. "Oh girl, nothing. Just mind my business, you know? And stay to myself," she told Entertainment Tonight when asked about her post-tour plans. She elaborated, "This is such a whirlwind, and you’re kind of like in a new place every second, and your brain is kind of all over the place. It’s fun and I’m grateful, and I wouldn’t change a thing, but sometimes you need to just, you know, disappear for a little bit."
During the promotional tour for "The Odyssey," Zendaya recounted the moment Holland informed her that she had also secured a role in the Christopher Nolan film. Both actors are part of the movie's star-studded cast. Holland was initially cast as Telemachus and had begun discussions with Nolan. Zendaya shared on The Tonight Show that she had a "peeky peek" at the script, indicating her eagerness to learn more. When Holland returned from a subsequent meeting, he instructed her to reread the script, this time with the character of Athena in mind, leading to her realization and excitement about her own casting.
"The Odyssey" has achieved significant commercial success, debuting at the top of the North American box office. The film generated $124.5 million domestically and $264.1 million globally, according to Variety. The movie, which retells the epic journey of the Greek king returning home to his wife Penelope after the Trojan War, has also garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences.
