Actor Tom Chadbon, known for his roles in "Game of Thrones" and "Doctor Who," died last week at the age of 80. Fantom Events, a company with which Chadbon worked, confirmed his passing in a social media post on Monday.
"We are sorry to hear the news that Tom Chadbon passed away last weekend," the statement read. "Tom was a familiar face to many from his numerous television and film credits, including 'Doctor Who,' 'James Bond' and 'Game Of Thrones.'"
Chadbon was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, and his television career spanned nearly 50 years. He appeared in "Casino Royale," Daniel Craig's first James Bond film. He also featured in the 1979 "Doctor Who" story "City of Death" alongside Tom Baker, which remains the show's most-watched episode.
He later reprised his role in "Doctor Who" as Merdeen in the 1986 serial "The Trial of a Time Lord." His final television appearance was in the 2017 "Game of Thrones" Season 7 finale, where he played High Septon Maynard.
Chadbon was married twice. His first marriage was to Deborah Elspeth Leathers in July 1966, with whom he had two sons, Dominic Thomas Chadbon and Nicholas Richard Chadbon, before their divorce in 1970. He later married Jane Hennessy in 1977, and they remained together until his death.
