NFL legend Tom Brady described a recent golf trip to Ireland with his father as one of the "greatest experiences of my life." The former quarterback, 48, took his father, Tom Brady Sr., 82, to play some of Ireland's most prestigious golf courses, including Royal County Down, Portmarnock, and Adare Manor, which is slated to host the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Brady shared a series of photos on Instagram, capturing moments with his father and the Irish landscape, alongside several pints of Guinness. He expressed his deep emotions about the trip, calling it "special" and highlighting the joy of sharing the experience with his father, whom he referred to as his "idol and hero."
"It didn't take much convincing to head to Ireland to play some of the best golf courses in the world," Brady wrote in his post. "but to be on the course with my dad on Father's Day was one of the greatest experiences of my life."
The trip held particular significance for Brady due to his Irish heritage. His great-great-grandparents emigrated from Counties Cavan and Cork to the United States, and his father identifies as "100 percent Irish."
"Returning to Ireland was special in its own right, and the incredible hospitality and kindness of the Irish people will always hold a place in my family's heart," Brady added. He credited his father's unconditional love and support as the foundation for his family's well-being and expressed a hope to create similar memories with his own children in the future.
Brady also shared a humorous anecdote about his golf game, posting a picture of an "rubbish"-labeled trash can with a laughing emoji, hinting at the challenging winds affecting his play.
Previously, Brady discussed the upcoming trip with Roy Keane and Gary Neville on the "Stick to Football" podcast, mentioning he had been swinging a club since he was two years old. He noted that golf, a passion ignited by his father, took a backseat during his professional NFL career but has been reignited since his second retirement from the league in 2023. Brady indicated his current golf handicap is around three or four.
