T.J. Holmes said he and Amy Robach have been talking more about having children together and have discussed the possibility of adoption, a topic he raised on Monday’s episode of their “Amy & T.J.” podcast.

“We have talked more lately about having kids. We have talked more lately about the idea of even adopting a child,” Holmes said, adding that Robach often laughs when he brings up the subject. “I need to write in to my own damn column to get some advice about what to do when the person you’re with — who is maybe at an advanced baby-making age — laughs every time you bring up the possibility of kids.”

Robach, 52, told listeners she laughs because she was told she was “out of the baby making business” after a 2013 breast cancer diagnosis and entered remission in 2014. She said the prognosis was “devastating” at 40 but that she has come to peace with it and is “very happy to have had two children.”

Holmes, 48, said the desire to have a child with a partner is a “natural desire” and framed his remarks around creating a family unit together. He and Robach have each raised children from previous marriages and said they treat their blended household as one family.

Robach is the mother of two daughters, Ava, 22, and Annalise, 19. Holmes has three children: daughter Brianna and son Jaiden with his first wife, Amy Ferson, and daughter Sabine, 12, with his second wife, Marilee Fiebig. Holmes said having Sabine around brings “joy” and that he appreciates the “childlike” sweetness she adds to their home.

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach on set

Holmes and Robach first became publicly linked in November 2022 amid reports that they had carried on a months-long relationship while each was married to other partners. The pair were later dismissed from their roles at ABC and subsequently divorced their spouses.

Following the split, two of their former partners formed a relationship of their own. That pairing and subsequent developments, including reports that members of both couples have continued to pursue new relationships and domestic arrangements, were widely covered in the media.

Holmes has at times hinted at other milestones in his relationship with Robach: earlier this year he suggested the pair may have tied the knot privately in May after engagement rumors surfaced. Neither Holmes nor Robach has publicly confirmed a wedding.

Amy Robach

On their podcast, the hosts did not announce any firm plans to adopt but spoke openly about family, their blended household and how past medical and personal histories inform their current decisions. Robach declined to elaborate beyond acknowledging the emotional history tied to pregnancy after cancer treatment.

The conversation is the latest in a series of public updates from the couple, who continue to host the “Amy & T.J.” podcast and maintain a visible presence on social media and in lifestyle coverage. Both have previously spoken about navigating parenthood with children from prior marriages and about the adjustments that come with forming a new family unit.
