Tim Robinson will return to HBO this fall as the lead of a new comedy series, The Chair Company, which will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, Oct. 12.

HBO unveiled the premiere date and first images for the eight-episode season Monday, and released a logline that says, “After an embarrassing incident at work, a man (Robinson) finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.” The series will air weekly, with the season finale scheduled for Nov. 30.

Robinson stars alongside Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips is set to appear in a recurring role as Jeff Levjman. Robinson is reuniting with collaborator Zach Kanin on the project. Directors on the first season include Andrew DeYoung and Aaron Schimberg.

The Chair Company represents Robinson’s first new series following the critical success of his sketch series I Think You Should Leave, which ran from 2018 to 2022 and returned with a third season in 2023. Robinson earned two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2022 and 2023, and I Think You Should Leave won the Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Comedy in 2022.

HBO’s announcement included the network’s initial publicity images and the lineup details but did not release episode-specific descriptions. The eight-episode run will be available on HBO’s linear channels and the HBO Max streaming platform. For viewers who do not yet subscribe, HBO Max’s ad-supported tier was listed at $9.99 per month and the ad-free tier at $16.99 per month. The service is also available through Prime Video with a seven-day free trial. Bundled options that include Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max were noted in HBO’s release materials as another subscription route, with bundle pricing starting at $16.99 per month with ads and $29.99 per month without ads.

Until The Chair Company debuts, Robinson’s previous series I Think You Should Leave remains available to stream on HBO Max. HBO has not yet released a trailer, episode synopses beyond the series logline, or a full supporting cast list; further production and marketing details are expected in the weeks ahead as the Oct. 12 premiere approaches.
