Tim Robards, the Australian actor and former Bachelor star, has revealed a clean‑shaven appearance for the first time in two decades as part of a promotional campaign with Philips for its i9000 Prestige Ultra electric shaver.

Robards, 42, said the change was prompted by a new film role that required him to shave and by his experience testing the shaver ahead of the campaign. He told the Daily Mail he had not used a razor in about 20 years and that his wife, Anna Heinrich, and their daughters reacted strongly to the transformation. "My four‑year‑old told me I looked funny and my one‑year‑old didn't recognise me," he said.

In interviews surrounding the campaign, Robards described testing the i9000 Prestige Ultra and cited its design and features, including blades engineered to cut to 0.8 millimetres below the skin's surface while minimising irritation. He noted the shaver's AI technology and colour‑guided lights, which the company says help users achieve a consistent shave. Robards said he wanted to confirm the product would avoid the neck rashes he associated with razors when he was younger.

Robards has publicly advocated for health and fitness and used the campaign interviews to reiterate his approach to exercise and nutrition. He said prioritising fitness required setting goals and making time each day, adding that his typical meals include a palm‑sized portion of protein, salad or vegetables about the size of two hands, and three fingers' worth of healthy fats. He said he allows treats but balances them with how much exercise he has earned during a given day.

The actor and his wife recently relocated to the Gold Coast with their two daughters, Elle, 4, and Ruby, 1. Robards said the family has been frequently travelling back and forth since the move, which has made settling in more hectic than anticipated.

Philips described the i9000 series as its most advanced and intelligent range yet, positioning the campaign around the shaver's precision and skin‑safety features. Robards said the timing of the campaign aligned with his need to shave for the film role and that the product's performance influenced his decision to partner with the brand.

Robards rose to public attention through the Australian edition of The Bachelor and has since worked as an actor and fitness advocate. The latest change in his appearance and his involvement with Philips mark a notable departure from the beard he has worn for much of his adult life.
