English actor Tim Curry, widely recognized for his portrayal of the flamboyant Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," has died at the age of 80. Curry's manager confirmed his death to CBS, the BBC's U.S. news partner.
Curry originated the role of Frank-N-Furter on stage before the film adaptation, released in 1975, became a lasting cult favorite. Beyond "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," his career included a memorable performance as the terrifying clown Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King's "It." He also played Long John Silver in the 1996 film "Muppet Treasure Island."
Other notable film credits include "The Hunt for Red October" and "Home Alone 2." Curry also received three Tony Award nominations for his work on Broadway.
