Calum Fentie, a 32-year-old social media influencer known online as 'Calum with Kindness,' is facing criticism from a group of mothers concerned about his past criminal history and recent TikTok content. Fentie, who boasts over 170,000 followers on TikTok, often shares videos of himself giving gifts or engaging in acts of kindness. However, some locals have raised concerns about other aspects of his online presence, including his questioning of women's relationship status in videos and a bio that referred to him as 'TOP SHAGGER.'
Critics, primarily mothers concerned about Fentie's perceived target audience of teenagers, have labeled his videos as 'creepy' and are actively highlighting his past. One mother, who wished to remain anonymous, described Fentie approaching young women on the beach, offering notes, and then attempting to solicit their phone numbers. She also recalled a video featuring three young women in bikinis whom Fentie approached, subsequently stating they would give him their numbers. While the women did not comply, she noted they were laughing and may have recognized him from TikTok.
Fentie has publicly acknowledged a past criminal record. In 2015, he was jailed for stabbing three teenagers at a Sydney home when he was 21. Court documents indicate he had scaled a fence and bypassed security to enter a party before brandishing a knife. The victims included 18-year-old Brandon Marsh, who required surgery, and two minors aged 16 and 17. Police were called to the scene, and Fentie was charged. While this offense occurred over a decade ago, court records show Fentie has appeared in court approximately 55 times for various other matters since then, including drug charges in April 2022 for which he was fined and sentenced to a community correction order.
These past actions have led some locals to question his interactions with young women and his reinvention as a kindness influencer. An online discussion about Fentie revealed divided opinions, with some defending his right to move on from his past, while others questioned whether his kindness persona was a means to gain attention or fulfill ego.
In response to the claims, Fentie denied the allegations, characterizing them as rumors and misleading. He stated to the Daily Mail, "As a social media influencer, I interact with a broad audience that includes people of different ages and backgrounds. I try to brighten people's days through my content with various acts of kindness and humour. I do my best to bring positivity into the community with good intentions. The rumours circulating are outrageous and very hurtful as they are false and misleading. It's unfair because these are serious comments being made."
Shortly after being contacted by the Daily Mail, Fentie posted an image on social media of himself with a woman, declaring he had "found my queen" and hashtagging the post "wife." When a follower questioned if the woman was AI, Fentie responded, "Noo," confirming she was not. This public declaration did not quell the ongoing criticism from some corners of the internet.
