This Morning reclaimed the National Television Award for Daytime on Wednesday night, with presenter Alison Hammond saying the "natural order has been restored" as the programme accepted the prize at the ceremony at the O2 Arena in London.

The show, which had missed out on the Daytime Award in the two previous ceremonies, was represented on stage by its presenting team. Hammond, who hosts the Friday edition, stepped up first to take the microphone and said the recent loss had left the team feeling "humbled". Cat Deeley, one of the programme's main presenters, added that the cast and crew regarded the show as "like having a family." The Chase won the Daytime Award in 2024 and The Repair Shop took the prize in 2023.

Deeley, 48, appeared on the red carpet with a diamond ring visible on her left hand as she posed for photographers, weeks after she and husband Patrick Kielty announced their separation in a joint statement in July. The statement said the couple, who have two sons, had "taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated," adding that "there is no other party involved" and asking for privacy as they remain "united as loving parents." Deeley had previously been photographed wearing her ring on her right hand.

Ben Shephard, another regular This Morning presenter, attended the ceremony alongside Deeley and Hammond; he wore a dark green velvet dinner jacket for the event.

British tabloid coverage in recent months has reported tensions around the couple's split, including claims that members of Kielty's family were upset that Deeley did not attend his mother's funeral in March and viewed that as a sign the marriage was over. Kielty, 54, was photographed in August near the former couple's London home buying a bottle of red wine. He returned to his BBC Radio 5 Live show later that month and adopted a jocular tone on air, joking about being overlooked in replacements on Match of the Day and saying, "It's lovely to be back," as he thanked colleagues helping to run the programme.

This Morning, which has been on air in various forms for more than three decades, has persisted as a mainstay of British daytime television through multiple presenter line-ups and format tweaks. Hammond, who joined the programme as a guest and later became a regular presenter, has become a prominent figure on the show, known for her convivial presenting style and frequent appearances on Friday editions.

The National Television Awards are decided by public vote and are among the UK television industry's most-watched prize events. This year's win marks a return to the Daytime category for This Morning after two years in which rival daytime series claimed the title. Acceptance speeches at the ceremony typically highlight both the live production teams behind long-running shows and the audience support the programmes receive.

Producers and presenters of This Morning did not immediately issue further comment beyond remarks made on stage and the couple's July statement requesting privacy. The award adds to the programme's long-running profile and comes amid ongoing public interest in the personal lives of some of its presenters, which media outlets have followed alongside coverage of the series itself.
