Burrell was diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma in 2022. Her husband noted that neither she nor her medical team anticipated her death occurring so quickly. He shared that Burrell had fought hard for her family, friends, and for raising awareness about her illness. He also expressed hope that her story would provide hope to others facing similar diagnoses, emphasizing that "the statistics aren't gospel."
Burrell began appearing on "Antiques Roadshow" in 2018. She and Alex married in April amid her cancer battle, an event she shared on Instagram. She had been keeping fans updated on her health throughout her diagnosis.
