ATLANTA — Amy Blanc Lacy, a veteran script supervisor whose more than three-decade career in film and television included work on The Walking Dead, has died from injuries sustained in a Labor Day hit-and-run crash in Atlanta. The 62-year-old was a passenger in a Toyota Prius being driven by her 23-year-old son, Oliver, when a Hyundai Elantra collided with the vehicle on Sept. 1. Lacy’s other son, Adrian, 25, was in the car as well, and all three were hospitalized; she later slipped into a coma and died on Sept. 5 after life support was removed.
The driver of the Elantra allegedly lost control and struck the Prius at high speed. Police affidavits say the Elantra’s driver, Buck Rollins, traveled about 90 mph, roughly double the posted limit, before the collision occurred. Rollins then removed his golf clubs from the crashed car and walked away from the scene.
The three occupants were transported to the hospital, with Lacy remaining in critical condition before her death. The incident prompted a rapid investigation as authorities sought to determine how the crash unfolded and whether other factors contributed to the wreck.
On Sept. 8, Rollins turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail and was charged with Homicide by Vehicle (First Degree), Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. He was released from jail on a $70,000 bond, according to jail records obtained by The Post.
Funeral services for Lacy were held on Sept. 10. A GoFundMe page established to cover funeral expenses and medical bills had raised more than $60,000. In a post on GoFundMe, LuLu Lacy said the family, all under 30, were navigating grief while also dealing with lawyers, insurance, and medical costs. The family added that Lacy “enjoyed every second of her life on this earth,” and that her children would carry her strength, wisdom and joy forward.
Lacy’s colleagues described her as a steady presence on set and a skilled professional who helped guide productions through complex shoots. Her work on The Walking Dead earned recognition within the industry, and colleagues said she remained a trusted mentor to younger crew members throughout her career.
The investigation into the crash continues, with authorities reviewing Rollins’s actions at the scene and evaluating how the high-speed impact occurred. As prosecutors consider additional charges and potential updates to Rollins’s bond, friends and family mourn a figure described by many as a devoted mother and a tireless collaborator in Hollywood’s behind-the-scenes community.
