Stephen Libby, the winner of the BBC reality competition show “The Traitors,” is reportedly being considered for a spot on “Strictly Come Dancing.” Libby, 32, has met with the casting team for the popular dancing program, according to reports.
Libby became a fan favorite during his time on “The Traitors,” where he managed to remain undetected as a traitor for an extended period despite facing challenges. After leaving his role as a cybersecurity consultant, he has made public appearances, and his growing fan base has reportedly caught the attention of BBC executives.
“The Strictly casting team have met with Stephen and think he could be a great fit,” a source told The Sun. “Stephen was hugely popular on The Traitors and since leaving Ardross Castle he has built up a very big fan base. The BBC are always keen to utilise their talent and Stephen is ideal.”
While no final decision has been made, the source suggested that Libby would be a key target for the 2027 series if he does not join this year, provided his public profile continues to rise.
Libby himself has stated he is taking a break from work to explore potential opportunities. "If an opportunity presents itself that's more exciting than cyber security, I'll grab it with both hands," he said.
This comes as “Strictly Come Dancing” has faced some public criticism regarding its casting choices this year. Love Island star Cach Mercer, who is also a professional dancer, was announced as a contestant, leading to backlash from some fans who noted his existing dance background. This echoes similar reactions to past contestants like JB Gill and Tasha Ghouri.
Other confirmed contestants for the upcoming season of “Strictly Come Dancing” include actress Lacey Turner, singer Delta Goodrem, reality star Dani Dyer, and celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton.
Libby won “The Traitors” alongside Rachel Duffy. The show sees contestants attempting to deceive each other by secretly eliminating players in a bid to win a cash prize.
