Rachel Duffy, a contestant on the BBC reality series The Traitors, was recently hospitalized following a severe accident involving a kitchen blender. The incident, which occurred two weeks prior to her social media announcement, resulted in Duffy severing her dorsal nerve and partially lacerating a tendon in her right hand.

Duffy, 42, shared details of the accident on Instagram, warning followers about graphic content before posting photos of her bandaged hand, which she likened to a "Harry Potter scar."

She explained that the mishap led to a trip to the emergency room and required surgery. Duffy noted that she experienced significant pain and numbness in her thumb following the incident. She advised others to read blender instructions carefully to avoid similar accidents.

The domestic mishap has meant Rachel now has to be in a cast for 10 weeks

The cast is expected to remain on her hand for 10 weeks. Duffy expressed gratitude to the medical staff who provided her care.

This incident follows a period of personal difficulty for Duffy, who earlier this year spoke about coping with the death of her mother shortly after winning half of The Traitors' prize money. She had intended to use the winnings to create memories with her mother, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and dementia.
