The Rolling Stones have equaled The Beatles' record for the most number one albums after their latest release, "Foreign Tongues," secured the top spot on the Official Charts Company list. This marks the band's 15th chart-topping album.
"Foreign Tongues," a 14-track record released on Friday, follows their 2023 album "Hackney Diamonds." Critics have lauded the new album as a significant late-career achievement for the Grammy-winning group.
Chart Performance and Other Notable Entries
Elsewhere on the albums chart, the remastered version of My Chemical Romance's 2010 album "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys" reached number two. Olivia Rodrigo's album "You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love" is at number three, having achieved the biggest opening week of her career last month. Michael Jackson's compilation "The Essential" is at number four, amidst renewed interest fueled by a recent biopic.
Also making a notable debut is the English-Irish pop group December 10, formed last year by Simon Cowell for his Netflix documentary "The Next Act." Their album "On Your Side" secured the highest-charting debut for a British boy band in six years, landing at number five. The seven-member group expressed their surprise and excitement at charting alongside established artists like The Rolling Stones, calling it a "pinch-me moment."
Singles Chart Update
On the UK singles chart, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's "Rein Me In" has spent its 17th non-consecutive week at the summit. This run has surpassed Bryan Adams's 1991 hit "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You," which held the number one position for 16 consecutive weeks. "Rein Me In" is now one week away from equalling Frankie Laine's 1953 record for the most weeks at number one ever and has already been named the longest-running number one single of all time by a British act.
Football anthems also feature prominently on the singles chart following the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final. Oasis's "Wonderwall," adopted by England fans, is at number two. "Three Lions" by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds, a long-standing football anthem, is at number three. The official tournament anthem, "Dai Dai" by Shakira and Burna Boy, rounds out the top five at number five, with "Talk To You" by Anotr/54 Ultra at number four.
