“The Mandalorian and Grogu,” the latest installment in the Star Wars universe and the first new film in six years, is now available for streaming at home. The movie was released digitally on July 21 and can be accessed through on-demand platforms such as Prime Video.

The film continues the story established in the Disney+ original series “The Mandalorian,” which premiered in 2020. The series introduced the character of Grogu, often referred to as “Baby Yoda,” and starred Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who adheres to a strict creed, often wearing his helmet.

In “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” Din Djarin and Grogu are working with the New Republic to hunt down remnants of the former Galactic Empire. The plot follows the duo as they are tasked with rescuing Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt, in exchange for information on a target. Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta.

Critics have noted the film’s contained nature, with entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski of The Post describing it as “flighty fun — a Western-y space mission that’s commenced and neatly wrapped up inside of two hours.”

For those looking to purchase the film, it is available for digital purchase on Prime Video for $29.99 or for rent at $24.99. While a paid Amazon Prime membership is not required for purchase, a free Amazon account is necessary. Renters have 30 days to start watching and 48 hours of access once playback begins.

Physical media releases, including a 4K/UHD Blu-ray Steelbook, a Beskar Collector’s Edition Steelbook, and a standard DVD, are scheduled for release on August 25. Preorders for these physical editions are currently open.

The cast features Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, with Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder serving as on-set doubles for the character. Grogu is brought to life through animatronics, puppetry, and visual effects. Other cast members include Jonny Coyne as Janu Coin, Martin Scorsese as Hugo Durant, Sigourney Weaver as Ward, Steve Blum as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, and Shirley Henderson as members of the Anzellan species. Directors from “The Mandalorian” series, including Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, and Lee Isaac Chung, also appear in various roles.
