Former The Block contestants Dylan Adams and Jenny Heath-Adams have sold a Coolangatta apartment for $1.35 million, pocketing about $430,000 after buying the beachside unit for $920,000 and completing a nine-month renovation.
The couple purchased the 1990s-built two-bedroom property in January and set about a comprehensive update, aiming for high-end finishes and an entertainer-friendly outdoor space. Jenny Heath-Adams told the Gold Coast Bulletin the pair "pulled out all the stops to create something truly special, using only the highest quality fixtures and finishes." The renovation included a gourmet galley kitchen fitted with Taj Mahal benchtops, Boston oak cabinets and a custom micro-cement range hood.
Dubbed Dutton Cove, the apartment features two bedrooms with built-in wardrobes that open onto an expansive courtyard. The open-plan living and dining area flows to a landscaped outdoor zone with crazy-pave paths and a custom freestanding gazebo designed to host dinners and barbecues. The unit sits close to Coolangatta's café strip and the Gold Coast's beaches.
The sale marks a reversal for the couple, who became among the most publicised ‘‘losers’’ from the Nine Network renovation series after their 2022 season house failed to sell at auction. The show's executive producer, Julian Cress, previously described their Block build as "literally a bargain," saying price guides did not reflect actual build costs and land value. In December 2022, Jenny told Domain it felt "crazy" that their house would sell for less than its perceived worth and said the team used top-of-the-range materials throughout.
Their Gisborne property, which they renovated before appearing on the show, later spent almost six months on the market and eventually sold for about $3.9 million, roughly $180,000 below the reserve. A Palm Beach property they had started renovating before The Block was retained as the family home after the couple welcomed their first child, Billy, in July 2024. The couple shared images on social media announcing their son's birth, captioning one post: "HELLO WORLD I'M HERE. Billy Heath Adams. 24.07.24. I'm a happy healthy bubba, mum's recovering well, dad's taking care of us."
Dylan and Jenny exchanged vows at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast in March, and have shared details of their renovations and family life on social platforms since leaving the program. The Coolangatta sale shows a successful flip on a separate investment, even as some of their larger Block-related builds drew mixed market results.
