The fifth and final season of FX's acclaimed series "The Bear" has been met with widespread critical praise, with reviewers highlighting its "brilliantly chaotic" nature and solidifying its status as one of television's premier workplace dramas. The season premiered on June 25.

The show, which follows accomplished chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he attempts to transform his late brother's Chicago sandwich shop into a fine-dining establishment, first premiered in 2022. It quickly garnered significant attention, accumulating 21 Primetime Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards across its run.

Critics previewing the concluding season have largely offered rave reviews. Benji Wilson of The Telegraph awarded the season five stars, describing it as "a brilliantly chaotic final season" that focuses on "a classic recipe done very, very well."

Jack Seale of Radio Times also gave a five-star rating, calling the series "a workplace drama, perhaps the finest there has ever been: a band of imperfectly matched people complete a difficult task together, pouring themselves into it to achieve something that most likely means little to anyone outside the team." This sentiment was echoed by Louis Chilton of The Independent, who stated that "when it comes to performance, writing, and tone-setting, Christopher Storer's show remains one of the best things on TV."

David Opie from Digital Spy characterized the final season as "a wonderful epilogue to The Bear that's worth seeing in its own right, giving this era-defining show the thoughtful, if chaotic, send-off it deserves." Ben Travers of IndieWire noted that "The Bear did the work to stay in our lives consistently for five years, and it pays off in the final season."

While most reviews were overwhelmingly positive, some critics offered more nuanced perspectives. Alison Herman of Variety commented that "The Bear can't fully shake off two full seasons of subpar storytelling, but at least it can improve while it's still around." Rachel Aroesti for The Guardian, who awarded the season four stars, observed that "at times, it's genuinely anguished," adding that "when The Bear is overly serious, it can be a slog." However, she also acknowledged "a generous garnish of gallows humour."

Victoria Luxford of NME gave the season a slightly lower rating but still found it to be "a satisfying final course," suggesting it "might not reach the boiling temperatures of the show at its peak."

The final season of "The Bear" is available on FX and Hulu.
