Tenisha Warner publicly confirmed her identity Friday, sharing a previously unseen wedding photograph and announcing the launch of two new initiatives in honor of her late husband, actor Malcolm‑Jamal Warner.

In an Instagram post marking the couple’s wedding anniversary, Warner, who has kept a low public profile, thanked supporters and said she and their daughter were opening River & Ember and the Warner Family Foundation “in his honor.” She wrote, “I can still hear my husband’s laugh, still feel the way he made room for every part of me — every tear, every dream,” and concluded the post, “This is love. Still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”

River & Ember is described in the post as an organization providing parents with seasonal toolkits that include stories, family rituals and parent reflections to help children navigate difficult emotions, including grief. The Warner Family Foundation will offer college scholarships for students pursuing education in the arts, the announcement said.

The launches come nearly two months after Malcolm‑Jamal Warner, 54, drowned while vacationing in Costa Rica. Police said the actor was swept into a strong current on July 20 while swimming with his 8‑year‑old daughter; he was pulled from the water but could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. His cause of death was listed by authorities as asphyxiation by submersion.

Fans and colleagues responded to Tenisha Warner’s post. Keshia Knight Pulliam, a former co‑star from The Cosby Show, commented that the tribute was “Simply beautiful.” Other commenters expressed support and said the photo captured the actor’s laughter and spirit.

Warner rose to fame portraying Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show and had a career spanning television, film and theater. In a May interview on Melyssa Ford’s “Hot & Bothered” podcast, two months before his death, he reflected on how he wanted to be remembered, saying, in part, that he hoped people would remember him as “a good person.”

Tenisha Warner noted that the couple married in 2017 and thanked those who had offered support during what she called a “tender time.” The new programs, she said, are intended to continue the legacy she and her husband began by nurturing children’s creativity and supporting young artists.

Representatives for the Warner family did not immediately respond to requests for further comment. The Instagram post and the organizations’ public announcements provided the primary details of the initiatives and the family’s intentions to carry forward the actor’s legacy.
