A 14-year-old footballer born with a rare congenital melanocytic naevus (CMN) has secured a role in the CBBC show "Jamie Johnson FC." Ethan, from York, was selected for the series while a member of the York City FC Academy.

His parents, Tom and Abbi, stated that Ethan's birthmark, a condition that can result in large patches of skin discoloration, has never defined him, attributing his accomplishments to his determination and strength. Jodi Whitehouse of the CMN charity Caring Matters Now expressed that seeing Ethan on screen is significant for the CMN community and for any young person who has felt self-conscious about their appearance.

For his role in "Jamie Johnson FC," Ethan joined the fictional football academy Hawx United for its fourth season. His audition involved participating in a football match against the show's existing cast members, where he showcased his skills before being cast as a squad member. Executive producer Sam Talbot noted that Ethan's casting aligns with the show's commitment to reflecting the diversity of its audience and ensuring that all children can see themselves represented in the stories told.
