Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are implementing significant logistical measures for their upcoming July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, including permit applications for street closures around the venue and the erection of a public tent.
City Hall confirmed that an application was filed with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office covering July 2 to July 4. The permit requested street closures in the vicinity of Madison Square Garden and outlined plans for a tent outside the venue to accommodate between 500 and 999 attendees. Winick Productions, a company with prior experience hosting events at Madison Square Garden, submitted the permit application in June.
Details regarding the wedding's scope emerged when reports indicated that the couple, both 36, originally planned an intimate ceremony in Rhode Island. However, in November 2025, they reportedly began considering a larger celebration. Swift recently held her bachelorette activities at her Rhode Island mansion, while Kelce traveled to Los Angeles with friends.
Notable guests reportedly invited to the wedding include Zoë Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Gigi Hadid, and Selena Gomez. Celebrity wedding planner Mark Seed has been involved in organizing the event for months.
The 20,000-seat arena currently has no events scheduled between June 29 and July 6, aligning with the wedding date. Kansas City Chiefs players, associated with Kelce, have reportedly booked accommodations at the Marriott Marquis in Midtown around the wedding weekend.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has publicly acknowledged the city's capacity to host major events, referencing Taylor Swift's wedding as an example.
Madison Square Garden has previously hosted large-scale weddings, including Sly Stone's in 1974 and a mass wedding ceremony involving 2,075 couples in 1982. Swift herself has a history of performing at the venue for various tours and events.
